Justino, 45 years old, comes from the Desana people in the Colombian rainforest and earns his living as a security guard in the container port of Manaus. He lives in a small apartment on the outskirts of the city with his daughter Vanessa. When Vanessa is offered a scholarship to study in Brasilia, Justino realizes how important this opportunity is for her—and what the consequences are for him. Suddenly, he is overcome by a mysterious fever.
