Heidi Abderhalden
Heidi Abderhalden is an artist and director. Since its foundation, Heidi has been a professor for the interdisciplinary master's program "Theater and Living Arts" at the National University of Colombia. Together with her brother Rolf Abderhalden, she directed all the productions of Mapa Teatro founded in Paris in 1984 and moved to Colombia in 1996. Mapa Teatro traces its own cartography in the "living arts” field by transgressing borders—geographical, linguistic, artistic—and addressing local and global questions trough "thought montages”. Elements such as myths, stories, current events, privacy, and the public sphere constantly merge and shift. The latest production of Mapa Teatro, “La Luna en el Amazonas” (The Moon in the Amazon), premieres at the opening CULTURESCAPES 2021 Amazonia. It is a continuation of the trilogy “Anatomia de la Violencia en Colombia” (Anatomy of Violence in Colombia), which illuminated various facets of the Colombian civil war.
