O Samba do Crioulo Doido is Luiz de Abreu's powerful and autobiographical exploration of racial discrimination and its impact on the black, male, Brazilian body. By playing with stereotypical elements such as samba, carnival, and eroticism—which are always unmistakably associated with black Brazilians—the play mocks racist clichés and offers a humorous criticism of relationships of domination.
