Étienne Minoungou

The series "The Drummers and Their Drumbeats" by Ghanaian filmmaker Anita Afonu, commissioned by Culturescapes, focuses on a selection of artists whose works are presented in scope of Culturescapes 2023 Sahara. Etienne Minoungou is an actor, director, playwright and African cultural entrepreneur, based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. After serving as artistic director of the Théâtre de la Fraternité in Ouagadougou, he founded the Falinga company in 2000, and in 2002 launched the Récréâtrales, the first pan-African theatrical writing and creation residencies in Ouagadougou, which has become one of the most important forums for theatrical creation in Africa.
