Culturescapes is a biennial multidisciplinary cultural festival based in Basel that has been promoting cross-cultural dialogue, mutual learning, collaboration and networking between different cultures for more than 20 years.
We see ourselves as a platform for an inclusive, multicultural, open, and responsible society. In collaboration with over 70 cultural partner institutions from ten other cantons, we organize around 200 events per festival in all fields: performing and visual arts, film and literature, university lectures, public debates, and programs for children and young people.
As part of our organizational development, we are looking for
a committed and motivated Managing co-director / Head of Production
(workload of 60% over two years: 2025 60-80%, 2026 40%) as of January 1, 2025.
Together with the artistic director, this new position forms the management office (festival budget, programming, personnel management, and communication).
Your role:
You are responsible for finances, payment, and accounting.
You are responsible for fundraising (together with the artistic director).
As a production manager, you are the interface between artists and partner institutions throughout Switzerland.
You bring:
Strategic and solution-oriented thinking and acting
Solid commercial knowledge and several years of practical experience
Creativity and initiative, an overview and flexibility, reliability and stamina
Interest and experience in planning, organizing, and implementing cultural projects with various organizers, artists, and institutions in different disciplines and formats
Knowledge of cultural scene and friendly working relationships with various cultural institutions in the Basel region
Understanding and experience with Swiss and international labor legislation and customs formalities
Motivating leadership style and team spirit
Excellent knowledge of German, very good knowledge of written and spoken English, knowledge of French is an advantage
Category B driver's license
