Soema Montenegro

Soema Montenegro is a singer and experimental composer based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She blends the sounds and images of the jungle and mountain landscapes with her original poetry, creating a new and unique voice in the current South American music scene. As a multidisciplinary artist, she has received critical acclaim from international audiences around the world. Soema participated in the documentary "The take away show # 100” (2010) by a renowned French director Vincent Moon, and she was featured in publications such as Rolling Stone, The Wire, and La Blogotheque. Soema has performed at some of the most important international festivals of the world music scene in Europe, South America, and the United States. She is the project coordinator dedicated to studying and circulating ancestral songs in the high valleys of Catamarca, Argentina.
